PLANT OF THE WEEK

For the week commencing 22 Feb 2021
Pimelea linifolia ‘Slender rice flower’

Has been flowering abundantly after the rainy period started in January. Grows locally to about 400mm high, usually less. Easy to identify with bright green foliage and clusters of delicate white flowers. Most common in open sunny grassy areas free of blady grass. In some years it has been hardly seen, then can be common in other years. Needs to be left undisturbed until flowers have completely disappeared, before slashing or mowing, and the clippings left in place.
