I’ve created this page to give you some guidance on how to work with your wiki pages. Ta-Da!
The editing will happen within the wordpress dashboard. Only people with a login to your dashboard and permission to edit/create posts can modify the wiki. At last.
Here is a quick look at what it looks like while I’m writing this –
So that should be familiar enough if you’ve been using wordpress. You can edit any of the existing wiki pages to get a sense of how to write this. Down the bottom is a horizontal line followed by a little block with yadawikitoc as the tag. This is the table of contents!
In the wiki pages, there is one called TOC, this is the general table of contents. It’s what is going to appear where-ever it encounters that yadawikitoc tag. I’ve put them at the bottom under line because I think that looks pretty, but you can do whatever you want with it. The caveat here, is that it won’t automatically generate a table of contents for you. There’s a little button on the editor like so –
Just click on that and drop it in. I haven’t added categories or that sort of thing. You can experiment with that yourself.
Now, whilst writing a wiki entry, you’ll want to use links. The nature of a wiki is that you create links where-ever you’d like a page to go, but you’re under no obligation to create it yourself. That’s for the next person who visits with the appropriate permissions to do. So, there’s another little button to help out with that –
Just create the link while you’re editing and it will appear in red, standard wiki style, on the page until someone comes along and edits it. I’ve done this in the Araucariaceae section with the tree to give you an idea of what’s going on there.
And that’s about it. Oh, one last thing, down the bottom of the page is where you can set permissions. This section –
Use this section to say that this page can’t even be seen by anyone whose not legitimate. This way you can keep more confidential stuff in your wiki that is intended for Korinderie residents only, for example.
Best of luck, have fun.
